Welcome Back Term 4

We have been so busy and it's only week 2!

Last week we went on camp to Tea Pot Valley. The rain didn't stop us from having a great time and all the children were amazing.

Here are some of the photos from camp. I will try and put some more onto slideshow later.

What have we been up to lately

Magical Stars Evening - You were all stars!!!

Waiting to run in the cross country

Here are a few more photos of what we have been doing in room 6. I have been trying out a new way of loading photos but the system seems to be against me so I am reverting back to the usual way! I will keep trying. Check out the children's individual blogs they have been working hard on them.

writing Instructions

We are learning to write instructions for making things. We have been following instructions on how to make a talking card. You have to read carefully and follow each instruction otherwise you will ruin your card!

Impressionist Paintings

We have been looking at Impressionist painters. We have been painting in their style of small brush strokes using glue spreaders and lolly sticks. We made a sketch from a still life of flowers and apples. We then mixed our colours to produce our paintings.
What do you think of our work so far? Please leave a comment.

Busy week in Room 6

We have had a very busy week this week with 2 visits out.

The first was to the Suter looking at shapes and colours. The children really enjoyed the session and produced some lovely pieces of work based on the colours from the pieces.

The second visit was to the museum to learn about the Iwi in our area. We were very lucky to have Cindy whose great, great grandparents were featured in the exhibition. We learnt how to weave, strip flax for weaving, talked about the local iwi and listened to a story about the boulder bank.

Whew what a busy time!!!
