Impressionist Paintings

We have been looking at Impressionist painters. We have been painting in their style of small brush strokes using glue spreaders and lolly sticks. We made a sketch from a still life of flowers and apples. We then mixed our colours to produce our paintings.
What do you think of our work so far? Please leave a comment.

Busy week in Room 6

We have had a very busy week this week with 2 visits out.

The first was to the Suter looking at shapes and colours. The children really enjoyed the session and produced some lovely pieces of work based on the colours from the pieces.

The second visit was to the museum to learn about the Iwi in our area. We were very lucky to have Cindy whose great, great grandparents were featured in the exhibition. We learnt how to weave, strip flax for weaving, talked about the local iwi and listened to a story about the boulder bank.

Whew what a busy time!!!

Inquiry Learning in Room 6

In term 1 we were learning about what Nelson Central School means to us in room 6. We invited parents to interview and created some interesting questions to ask them. Then we used our answers to help us create a display which showed what Nelson Central meant to us.

We selected some key words and put them onto clear sheets but words don't always express how we really feel, so we created a design to help show our true feelings and this display is our final display.
